“A” is for ammo. Ammo is one of the main items that as a prepper you should have stockpiled. Is there a magic number of how many rounds need to keep no.  If the shtf most likely you will not have enough and the ammo.  A quick search around the internet you will find answers like “Once you think have enough multiply by 5” or “one more than you have now”. If you use that philosophy for your preps you will be consumed by “I don’t have enough syndrome” which is a never-ending.  For me my stockpile is a safety net so when something come up (i.e. Matches, hunting, and going to the range) I don’t need to put extra money in to buy ammo or running all over the place to find the right ammo for my shooting.  Here my suggestion broke down my types of guns.

  • Shotgun 12 ga
    • 4 boxes of upland game load premium number 4 shot lead
    • 4 boxes of trap loads
    • 2 boxes of waterfowl load 2 shot non-toxic
    • 2 boxes of waterfowl load BBB or BB non-toxic
  • Handgun per caliber
    • 300 rounds of target
    • 100 rounds of defensive
  • Hunting rifle
    • 60 rounds
  • semi-auto rifle center-fire
    • 300 to 400 rounds
  • Rim-fire 22 lr
    • 1000 rounds

The list is above is not all-inclusive I try to forecast my shooting activity for the year and  make sure that covered  This last year we have seen the shelves at big box store all but empty with you able to get that one box of 25 apc that you don’t need having stockpile has help ensure that i don’t need to search long and far to shoot and when the shtf maybe it will buy you enough time to outlast and survive.
